Young Audiences of Virginia's programs are designed for students, pre-school-12, and encompass all art disciplines including music, theatre, storytelling, dance, literary and visual arts. YAV is unique in that it works with professional artists to develop programs that incorporate performance, demonstration and audience participation while at the same time teaching core curriculum subjects like math, history, English and science. All programs are performed at your facility and are 50 minutes in length. Detailed teachers' materials are provided for preparation and follow-up with the students. In order to provide the best education benefits, programs are limited to a maximum audience of 200 students for solo artists and 350 students for ensembles with two or more members.YAV also offers workshops and individually designed residency programs. YAV is the local chapter of Young Audiences, Inc. which is the nation's leading nonprofit arts-in-education organization. Its collective mission is to establish the arts as an essential part of every child's education. In 1994, Young Audiences was the recipient of the highest honor in the arts community, the National Medal of Arts.
