Tues.-Sun. 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Closed Mon.-Wed. before Thanksgiving to decorate for Christmas

Just eight miles from Colonial Williamsburg is Carter's Grove, a beautiful colonial plantation along the James River. There, four centuries of fascinating history are told by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation through authentic displays and "living" exhibits. A visit to Carter's Grove leaves you with a deeper appreciation of how history overlaps and evolves.

The Reception Center is open from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. in summer and 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. in winter, except Monday (open Monday on holiday weekends). Carter's Grove is closed January and February and for the week before Grand Illumination (in order to decorate for Christmas). Admission to Carter's Grove is included with your Patriot's Pass admission ticket. For information, call (757) 229-1000, ext. 2973.

Take Route 60 east for direct access to Carter's Grove from Colonial Williamsburg. A pleasant alternative on the way back is a scenic one-way country road reminiscent of the roads that connected plantations in the 18th century.
