The Cantata Chorus is based in the Norfolk/Portsmouth area of
southeastern Virginia, and enters its 50th season in 2008/2009. The
Chorus has provided the Hampton Roads' community with thrilling
performances of the great choral masterworks since its founding in 1959
by Grover J. Oberle, organist and Choirmaster of Christ & St.
Luke's Episcopal Church in Norfolk, Virginia.
Rehearsals are at Trinity Episcopal Church in Portsmouth on Monday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m.
For our 50th Anniversary Season [2008/2009], former conductor Dr. Allen
Shaffer will direct the Chorus, and we will be joined in spring 2009 by
the Virginia Children's Chorus.
