The Fifes and Drums of Yorktown is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to training young people in the history, rudiments and drill of 18th century field music. These volunteer performers, between the ages of 10 and 18, serve as historic ambassadors at more than 100 performances each year where they explain the history of their music and uniforms, as well as play various tunes and beats from the period. The Corps perfoms annually for Flag Day at the National Museum of American History at the Smithsonian Institution, The Governor's Christmas Tree Lighting in Richmond, and at dozens of other venues along the eastern seaboard. For more information contact Walt Akers at 757.898.9418.
