The CACC is spearheading the restoration of the historic Attucks Theatre to its former elegance and usefulness in the community. The Attucks Theatre is located on Church Street in Norfolk. Theatre renovation is expected to begin this year and will be completed in early 2002. Following the restoration, it will function as a rental house for performances and will contain 650 seats. As its mission, the CACC is dedicated to the preservation and operation of the Attucks Theatre by presenting artistic, educational, civic, and multi-cultural activities, while emphasizing an appreciation for the richness of the African-American experience.
