The Virginia International Waterfront Arts Festival was created in 1997 as an annual springtime cultural event designed to promote tourism in the 50-mile Hampton Roads region from Williamsburg to Virginia Beach. Renamed the Virginia Arts Festival in 2000, our mission has consistently focused on bringing world-class performing arts to our citizens and visitors of Hampton Roads, impacting the lives of students through our educational programs, commissioning new works of national and international significance, and making a tangible difference in Hampton Roads through regional partnerships and positive economic development.
