The Stockley Gardens Art Festival is held at Stockley Gardens Park in the Ghent section of Norfolk.
Art, music, food and laughter. Hope House Foundation hosts the sharing of these vital activities that bring people in the community together during the Stockley Gardens Arts Festivals. For 21 years we have held these festivals twice annually- on the third weekend in May and the third weekend in October. These popular fundraising events each attract over 25,000 people. The money raised during these events helps us assist with housing, transportation, medical needs, and various other necessities for people with developmental disabilities in Hampton Roads. The real art of this is that the events not only benefit the population served by Hope House Foundation, but the entire community, allowing Hope House a wonderful opportunity for reciprocity. All day Saturday and Sunday, approximately 150 of the area's - as well as the nation's - finest artists exhibit a wide variety of mediums, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, photography, and many others. Throughout the weekend visitors can enjoy a wide variety of children's activities , live musical entertainment at the main stage and festival food vendors from across the region. A judge juries the artists who compete for the festival's cash award prizes. College and high school students also exhibit their artwork at the Student Exhibit and compete for award prizes. College students exhibit during the fall show and high school students during the spring. The award winners are announced during the Artist Reception, Saturday evening of the festival. Spectators can also enjoy finding out about other local non-profit organizations in Hampton Roads by visiting Community Row. This is an area of the park where non-profit agencies can display material and inform the community about their agency. Applications for 22nd Annual Stockley Gardens Spring Arts Festival will be available January 3, 2006.
