Nestled in the scenic Lakewood Park, the Lakewood Dance/Music Center is the city’s dance, music and exercise and fitness headquarters. With over 100 classes each session and more than 20 qualified instructors, the center presents two major dance performances and two music recitals annually. Classes are also offered at many of the city’s recreation centers. Because classes are affordably priced, Lakewood Dance and Music Center provides instructional and performance opportunities to many citizens in Norfolk and surrounding areas
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The Dance/Music Division shall enrich the lives of our citizens through the provision of classes, performances, special events, workshops and educational opportunities in dance and music, in which artistic expression and pleasures of creating are fostered by trained and experienced professional guidance.
DANCE, EXERCISE & FITNESS CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS
Classes are offered in beginning and advanced levels for ages 4 through adult. Dance classes are offered in 10-week sessions, 4 times a year. Exercise classes are in 13 or 10 week, sessions depending on the session. Workshops are offered at various times during the year and dance camps are offered in the summer.
